Hi

If I go the self-employed route,  and collect documents from clients to work on at home,  what insurance will I need and what are the premiums like ?

What car insurance would I need ?
What portion of car expenses would be allowed to put to the business ?

cheers   biggrin

You'd need cover for business use on your car insurance.  This may or may not cost you any extra depends on the company.

You can claim mileage allowance of 40p mile for the first 10,000 miles a year then 25p per mile for business mileage.

So any motor expenses I bought out of company Cash/Bank would have to be posted to Drawings,  then claim the Mileage Allowance on my Tax return ?

What evidence of the mileage is required ?

cheers biggrin

When I travel to clients, I log in my diary, the starting and ending mileage, and then enter this into a spreadsheet. Hope this helps :)
