Moneysoft not creating 2017-18 file

I've created all my 2017-18 files apart from one, pay date 30th April.  Just gone to do it this morning and it's not giving me the option to create 2017-18.  I've checked to see I haven't inadvertently closed the payroll scheme and I've also checked I haven't archived it by mistake  so I'm a bit stumped.

Hi John
Wonder if this might be connnected to your other post with the microsoft problem. Doesnt help you I know, but if you cannot set up a new file for this same client, which I think might be your option until Moneysoft are back in, which means your RTI will be late, then Ive a suggestion for you but will PM you!

Hi Joanne

I don't think it is, as all my other files have been ok,  I can set up a new file, which I've done no problem and submission went through ok.

I set up all the employer stuff manually (double checking as I went along) then imported the employee, and noticed I could have imported the employer stuff as well - ah well

Hi John, at least you've managed to set up the new file from scratch, when you mentioned manually doing it I thought you were having to resort to HMRC basic tools (thank goodness not!). Glad you have it covered for now.

Hi, please could you give me some feedback with regard to Moneysoft.

My company wants to move away from Sage and has asked me to look at Moneysoft, but my payroll skills are a little rusty. It seems to do everything that we need - two small company payrolls, auto enrolment, hourly pay, bacs, linked to HMRC etc.

What problems have anyone encountered when you have changed over? How quick and easy is it to set up and what should I expect?

By no means a payroll expert. You'll need year to date figures from Sage payroll to input into Moneysoft. The rest is basic input to get up and running.

 I've never heard of anyone regretting switching to Moneysoft, Brightpay, or 12Pay, having previously used more expensive (but less functional) offerings such as Sage and Quickbooks. Changing at the start of the PAYE year is easiest.

The biggest pitfall of changing over is that you need the same RTI ID for each employee between the old and new software, or HMRC may think that the employee has 2 simultaneous employments with the same employer, and will try to alter their tax code accordingly. (this behaviour is a ludicrous failing in HMRC's design for RTI that they have never addressed).

I'm in the middle of doing my first AE, but so far I've found Moneysoft excellent.  Brightpay is supposed to be even better but I think Moneysoft will suffice for what I need.

I am suitably nervous, not having done payroll for about 10 years, auto enrolment is all new to me! I wasn't expecting to make these sort of decisions only a couple of weeks into a new job!

Another shout out for Moneysoft (and 12 Pay) much cheaper than Sage payroll and a good bit of kit. Shame, as Tom says, that this was a few weeks ago. There are instructions on mid year changes in Moneysoft. Download a trial and check if out. You shouldnt need phone support but dont leave anything new until the weekend as they arent open. Email support also available.

As Johnny says - please do an intro. Helps us to get to know how to pitch answers and get to know you. Usual stuff what prof body do you belong to, do you work for yourself or in a practice/ firm, are you a bookkeeper or accountant, what qualifications, how long in role, where up to in your studies-what exams passed/with what body/in midst of doing, where based, what you did before this role? That so of thing.
