I use the HMRC software to file clients Tax returns and then email them the completed returns as well as keeping a copy for myself in their files, I have just noticed that when I save the returns to my desktop the front page has none of the clients details on it, the rest of the return is fine with all the information showing correctly.
I did phone HMRC and they said that they were aware of the problem with the colour returns but the black and white ones were fine (I prefer to send the colour versions) they did say that I could download the colour return and enter the details myself but I can only download a PDF which I can not edit, just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if they did how they overcome it.
Any help would be great, Cheers

Hi Doug/Stella
I've not had a problem, although I use Taxfiler. When you say that you are using HMRC, are you using the clients own login?
Typical of HMRC to pass the baton back! Does it actually work in black and white as they suggest? Did they suggest when a fix will be available? I do suspect they don't care (cynic, yep!)
I had a client who disputed the legality of a payslip I produced for his first employee because it wasn't green. Moneysoft does green so that's what he got. Must admit I think P60s in black just look wrong (is this showing our age). I'm wondering now if Taxfiler does green, not something Ive thought about. Which reminds me I was going to check out the 'interest' calc thing.
Am bumping this post, see if any of the more IT savvy can help.

Hi Joanne
Thanks for reply
No using my agents log in and authorised clients from my list, black and white is fine and has all details but just does not look very professional.
HMRC said they will try and get it fixed but who knows when!!!

Ah right, sorry I didn't realise you could still do the s/a online via agent login. I only use Taxfiler as I have to have something for the CT returns and it keeps it all together.
Might be worth emailing their online problem email thingy. I find you sometimes get more a detailed response to a specific question that way. Not always, but more often than on the phone.
Hope it gets resolved quickly. Know what you mean about things looking unprofessional....usually happens just before or after sending a bigger invoice than usual!

PDF escape is your friend Doug.
Incidentally, when downloading the tax return, do you find the text goes gobbly gook the further you get in to the return? Not noticed it so much in the last couple of years but used to have do save it in pdf print mode.
Like Joanne, I'm slowly transitioning to tax filer now for sa returns. (finding it hard because I really like the HMRC format)

go to pdfescape.com and upload the document from your computer. You can then add the relevant details you need and save it back to your computer. Use the new file to send to your client.
