Good morning all,

I've recently taken on some work from an accountant and he's given me the extended trial balance so i can enter the opening balances for the new fianacial year.

Problem is its not very clear to read and full of scribble etc! I've sat looking at it for so long trying to make sense of it but now i'm unsure what nominal accounts i should be taking the figures from to get my opening figures?

Any help very much appreciated

Hi

Without seeing the actual document it is a bit difficlut to say but usually with an ETB the final balances are the ones in the columns at the far right hand side of it.

Better still.....ask the accountant to tidy it up...or at least put it in an Excel spreadsheet. No point in giving you something to do if you can't even read it!
