A franchise with a guarantee
Permalink Closed

I thought I'd just post an update to let everyone know that Crunchers now has a "success guarantee".

We have done this because:

1. Franchisees are recommended to offer clients guarantess and we feel it is fair to do the same.

2. This also shows our confidence in the Crunchers business system.

3. A guarantee reduces the risk for potential franchisees.

My understanding is that this makes Crunchers unquie amongst the franchises available to bookkeepers and accountants.

Hi Bob,

Nice idea. How does the guarantee work in practice?

@Stuart - it depends on the person. We find out what they are most concerned about and create an agreement around that.

I suspect most of this will be about being able to generate new business and we are happy to guarantee that if a franchisee follows our system, asks for help and works hard they will be fine. At the end of the day, we don't want unsuccessful people holding us back.

As Stuart has said it is an interesting idea but exactly what is being guaranteed?

I have probably spent too many years working with lawyers but "they will be fine" seems a bit nebulous.

Probably being unfair asking you to expand further on a forum, without a specific example, but hopefully you see where I am coming from.

@Hal - we agree targets with franchisees as part of the business planning process so fine could be 75% of targets. But, this is really for the franchisee to define.

Hi Bob

I'm currently looking into accounting franchises as a way to set up my own accounting business.

Had a look at your website and it looks very good, and I like the guarantee discussed here.

A quick question if that's ok? All the start-up and business magazines I'm reading advise that a franchisor should be a member of the British Franchise Association (BFA). Just wondered if Crunchers is a member of the BFA as I can't see any mention of them on your website.

Thanks.

Antony

Antony - no we are not and I am not sure we ever will be because our model if slighly different.

This is because we are basing our business on bringing in qualified bookkeepers/accountants, most will probably already be in business.

We even considered not being a franchise and being a network.

Thanks for the reply Bob.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but what is the difference between a network and a franchise?

Also do you offer a discovery day or something similar?

Antony - from my perspective, not a lot!

We decided to go for franchise because we see value in the franchise model. It is more structured and we have had the experience of a network and want to improve on that, specifically we wanted to take more responsibility for the result.
