Payroll Processing Date?
Permalink Closed

Hi all

I'm in desperate need of some clarification, here's the situation:

If payroll is run for May 2012 for a full month 1-31st but not paid to the employee until the 15th June, what should the processing date be?

Thanksconfuse

Hi there. If this is the May monthly payroll and the payroll is run on the 31st May then the processing date should be 31st May. Why is the employee not paid until 15th June?

If the employee is contractually due to be paid on the 15th of the following month then that is the processing date, from a PAYE point of view.

The payroll should be dated - and the tax and NIC worked out accordingly - on the date of payment, not the end of the period to which the pay relates. In your case, it should be dated on the Friday, not the Sunday. and in your case the processing date should be 31 of the may.

I'm with Tom. We pay on the friday however this is for the previous weeks hours. The processing date for me, has always been, (I could however of been doing it wrong) the actual pay date, i.e the friday.

I agree that the processing date should be the pay date...however there was no explanation from the OP whether this employee was paid monthly or weekly. If they run monthly payroll and the employee was being paid late for some reason.....? If the employee was on a weekly pay schedule then the processing date should be 15th June.
