One of our clients has rang up today and I have promised I will get back to her by the end of today with an answer. One of her employees has been very ill in fact he almost died a few weeks ago and it is likely that this is going to be a long road to recovery. It is also very likely that he will be fit for work again at some point though.
She has said that as he is one of her best workers and he has a family and its coming up to christmas etc she doesn't want to just pay him £86.70 per week in sick pay because its simply not enough for him to live on. He was on a good wage before he became ill and so she has asked if she can top up his sick pay to the amount of what his net wage would be?
Is it possible to do this? And if so how would I account for this in sage payroll? Would I process his sick pay as normal but the add on an additional amount in salary that makes the net amount come to the usual mark?
Is there anything else that needs to be considered here?
if you got to the summary page when you are entering the payments you can press the "make up to basic button" which will adjust their salary so that they get what they would have got if they were not sick.
